Prohibited Items for Events

Avoid bringing restricted items into the venue to maintain safety and comfort.

  • Oversized Bags: Bags larger than 13” x 15” x 8”.
  • Alcohol and Drugs: Alcoholic beverages, marijuana, and illegal drugs. Do not bring outside alcohol or marijuana into Red Rocks Amphitheatre, even though marijuana is legal in Colorado.
  • Containers: Glass bottles, aluminum cans, and non-factory sealed liquids.
  • Equipment and Devices: Umbrellas, aerosols, remote-controlled flying devices, weapons, tarps, poi, audio/video recording devices, selfie sticks, totems, bullhorns, noisemakers, and strollers.
  • Charcoal Grills and Open Flame Fires: Charcoal grills and open flame fires are not allowed due to fire risk. Temporary fire bans may further restrict the use of even small gas-controlled grills.
  • Miscellaneous: Full face masks, confetti, glitter, hula hoops, gum, and any item deemed inappropriate by management.
  • Management Authority: Management reserves final decision on all prohibited items and guest conduct. Rocks management reserves final authority regarding rules enforcement and safety compliance.

Alcohol Policy

Bring your own alcoholic beverages for tailgating in the parking lots before shows, but keep them sealed in the park to avoid confiscation. Outside alcohol is not permitted inside the venue. Inside, alcoholic drinks are available for purchase. Management and security have the authority to deny entrance to impaired or intoxicated guests, and guests and their possessions are subject to inspection upon entry. Intoxicated guests may be denied admittance to the amphitheater. Management and security oversee alcohol use to maintain a pleasant atmosphere.

Animal and Service Dogs

Pets are not allowed during events but are welcome for exercise on non-event days. Certified service animals are permitted during events following official guidelines.

Child Policy

Most shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre are family-friendly and open to all ages unless specified otherwise. Children above two years old require their own ticket, while those younger can sit on a parent’s lap.

Clear Plastic Bag Inspections

For safety, all guests and their possessions are subject to inspection at entry. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office at the venue. Bags should be open and ready for inspection by security staff. Intoxicated patrons may be denied entry. Stay inside the venue after your ticket is scanned, unless a medical or weather-related emergency requires you to leave.

General Code of Conduct

  • Access: Entry is subject to scheduled events and may require a ticket.
  • Respect the Venue: No climbing on structures, rock climbing, or off-trail use.
  • Pets: Leash and clean up after pets during non-event hours.
  • Soliciting and Vending: Unauthorized vending and soliciting are prohibited.
  • Personal Space: Respect personal space by not crowding seated fans without asking and do not cut in line at security.
  • Leave No Trace: Pack out what you pack in to help preserve the natural beauty of Red Rocks.

Red Rocks management reserves the right to enforce all rules and make final decisions regarding guest conduct to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Smoking Policy

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a no-smoking venue, including vapes and e-cigarettes. Designated smoking areas are available outside the seating area, specifically along the outside rail on either side of the stairs. Do not smoke marijuana anywhere.

Tailgating Policy

When planning your visit to Red Rocks Amphitheatre, be prepared for adverse weather conditions and severe weather, as Colorado weather can be unpredictable, and consider booking a Red Rocks shuttle from Denver to Red Rocks Amphitheatre so you don’t have to worry about driving yourself. Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the routes from parking lots to the venue are often partially dirt, uphill, and can be lengthy. Arrive early, as parking lots open two hours before the doors, to secure a good spot and allow enough time for the walk to the gates.

Enjoy tailgating in the parking lots, but keep it at the rear of your vehicle and avoid blocking other cars from parking. Avoid using large open-flame barbecues, tents, or canopies. Use only small gas-controlled grills during tailgating, unless a temporary fire ban is in place, and avoid open flames or charcoal grills. Also, do not carry open alcohol, as staff may confiscate it.

Restrooms and amenities are conveniently located at the north and south ends of the venue, near the north stairs, south ramp, and visitor center. The Upper South Lot serves as a designated drop-off and accessible shuttle area for those needing additional assistance.

By adhering to these rules and guidelines, you can help ensure that everyone enjoys their time at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. For more detailed information, please refer to the official Red Rocks Amphitheatre website. Enjoy your visit and the unique experience that Red Rocks offers!
